About
We are a couple from opposite sides of the planet, who crossed paths during covid and were connected by our similarities and shared interests in music, travel, exploration and the ocean.
The path we both took to get where we are today was a huge journey in itself and you could call us a modern success story! We met online and travelled a virtual world together, sharing every moment of our lives across the digital divide. Our connection blossomed in the pixels of our screens, and as we navigated the intricacies of a long-distance relationship, our daily routines revolved around hundreds of video calls, messages and a whole lot of Fallout 76! After a year of anticipation and countless virtual dates while waiting for the borders to reopen, we finally met in person, an encounter that felt like a reunion of old souls. Love, indeed, has no barriers, and our story is a testament to the power of connection in the digital age.
We are both firm believers of chasing after what you want in life. Live spontaneously, be adventurous and keep your inner child alive!

Kristen
That’s me!
Born and bred in New Zealand, I’ve also lived in England and 3 states of Australia. You could say that I’m the creative half of this travelling duo (although Tony’s drawing skills are 10/10).
I’ve always loved taking photos. Over the years, I’ve truly developed (pardon the pun) from snapping photos on 35mm film and proudly (or perhaps annoyingly) sharing my photo albums, to capturing moments with a modern mirrorless camera—and now, creating this website to share them!
Aside from photography, I’m mad about snorkelling, urbex, street art, antiques and curiosities, unique attractions and listening to rock and metal.
I have a habit of searching and collecting things: be it objects, experiences or stories. I have happily accepted my branding of ‘speccy’, as Tony has lovingly bestowed upon me.

We used to go camping at Mahia and Te Araroa (East Coast NZ) when I was a kid. My first trip on a plane was up to Auckland when I was about 15.
How do I choose?? It’s a draw between the Exmouth/Whale shark trip and Zakynthos, Greece. But also my 2nd trip to Bali, which really changed my opinion of the place.
The Interislander ferry trip between the North and South Islands of New Zealand
- Zakynthos, Greece
- Vanuatu
- Teufelsberg, Berlin
- Exmouth/Kalbarri, West Australia
- Iceland
I have always wanted to go to Japan since studying Japanese in high school. Another goal has always been to do route 66 in America, which luckily Tony also want’s to do! My ultimate dream was to go to Chernobyl, but I can’t see that happening anytime soon 🙁
Sorry Tony, but…the UK. It just feels depressing to me.
- Rottnest Island, WA
- Ningaloo Reef, WA
- Hideaway Island, Vanuatu
- Carnac Island, WA
- Noarlunga Reef, SA
Going to the Penis museum in Reykjavik
The Epicurean buffet at Crown Perth is epic
Crocodile Pizza, Possum Pie, Kangaroo, Buffalo, Escargot, Coconut Crab, Hash Cookie in Amsterdam, Eel Sushi…
Paua, Crayfish, NZ fish n’ chips and All Sauces (Gisborne specialty)!
Climbing an active Volcano in Vanuatu. Also the one time I went on a rollercoaster in England.
Nudibranchs!
When Tony filled a motel room spa with too much bubble bath and flooded the room…
If you can’t sleep on a plane, don’t take sleeping tablets. They won’t help, you will only feel extra exhausted and irritable, with no escape!
The locals on remote islands of Vanuatu, going about their daily business. Smiling and waving while holding a machete in one hand and a chicken in the other!
Going to the Great Barrier Reef from Townsville. It was my first time snorkelling on a tropical reef and that particular area didn’t live up to the hype.

Tony
He’s a pom who’s recently made the move to Australia (and is loving it!). Since living here he has already travelled to 6 of the 8 states/territories!
A highly skilled professional by day, he’s an adventure seeking, speed-freak at heart! He loves motorbikes, stylish cars and hard & fast metal! He has decided that he NEEDS a ute for off-roading.
Away from high-speed engines, Tony is interested in architecture, art, the ocean, horror films (especially when they include sharks) and exploring the world.
His foreign accent immitations are top notch, but rather embarrassing when they make a public appearance.

North Wales. My first overseas trip was to Belfast when I was about 7 or 8.
Going to Exmouth in Western Australia – swimming with the whale sharks and questioning the actual height of the Harold Holt VLF communication towers. I call bullshit on them being higher than the Empire state building!
The smell of decomposing emu roadkill in the outback at Silverton. Once you smell it, you can’t un-smell it.

Riding across America on a motorbike… Japan… More Greek islands!
France, Egypt… Barry Island in Wales and Lowerstoft in England really didn’t do it for me either.
Ningaloo reef. Ricketts Point marine sanctuary in Melbourne.
Going to the Fear scream park at Avon Valley, Bristol.
Definitely the round, hollow bread loaf filled with soup in Iceland! Alongside a pint of Gull beer.
English Sunday roast. And turkey for Christmas, not this ham they have in Australia.
Smashing plates in Greece.
Jumping out of a plane!
Great white sharks! And Octopuses are pretty cool.
- Master of Puppets – Metallica

- Hail to the king – Avenge Sevenfold

Replacing the lyrics of songs on the radio. The ruder and more inappropriate the better!
Plan everything (or get Kristen to since she’s the planning guru!) to maximise your activity time on your trip. Do unplanned things in between. Try new things, eat the things you wouldn’t normally eat.
